Coffee County Central High School Reviews

I have pulled my child out of this school and my 3 younger ones will NOT attend here either. There are a few teachers that the students do learn from but overall--these kids are NOT being prepared for college. I have always paid for my 4 to attend the city schools in this county--wish I had that choice for high school. This community needs to demand more for our students.

I'm a freshman at CCCHS and everyone is desribing this place as it is a aweful school or something but it is a great school i love it here.. I don't know why yall are saying it ain't.. I know it is a very crowded school but what can us students do about it.. it's not our fault!!!! My teachers are the best i could ever ask for like Mrs. Pickett, Mrs. Smith, Coach Jerrall, Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Ramsey..My favorite teacher has to be Mrs. Pickett.. She is so awesome i can go to her and talk bout anything she is like a mom figure to us..

I am also currently enrolled in Coffee County Centrail High school as a freshman. I came over here with fears higher than mount everest. The teachers were as friendly as could be and really opened thier arms to welcome us. I had my worries about a few of them, a.k.a Mrs. Coop, but now she's my favorite teacher. She's taught me more in english than my whole 10 years of schooling put togther. Mrs. Smith is amazing. She tough but now I understand algebra so much better, and she's really friendly. I find it crazy that people are complaining so much. I wouldn't say we're the best school ever but we're for sure not the worst. I would recommend coffee county central highschool to any parents , any day.

I am currently enrolled in Coffee County Central High School as a junior, having participated in their school system since late in my 8th grade year. Like many others, I am highly disappointed with what 'education' I've received. It seems that the teachers are nonchalant about their proceedings -- they lack what it takes to control the classroom; with constant disruptions and little to no punishment enforced, how can they expect to teach a child what he or she deserves to know? The only teachers I've seen with adequate teaching abilities are Algebra I teacher, Mrs. Shemwell, Honors English II teacher, Mrs. McCullough (although I hardly scraped by in her class, I will never forget this influencial woman), and English III teacher, Mr. Miller. Most teachers will 'give' grades rather than have students 'earn' them -- please, parents, don't send your students here... please. For their good, pick another school.

My girls were given good grades with very little effort. Then the next following year they are expected to know more than they were taught. A yoyo effect. Some Kids are snobbish, others are friendly. The leadership at this school is really a reflection of the community leadership as a whole. I am really sorry I moved here and can't wait to leave.

The teachers are caring and they put alot of empahsis on working hard. They care alot about the students and the sports. This is a good school.

I have a freshmen, junior and senior at this high school and I am NOT impressed. My two oldest kids make ok grades and the youngest is the A student, but she puts all her waking moments into school work during the school year to make this happen. I also taught my kids how to read and write when they first came into this school system in the early years. I wish I had been financially able to send them to private school when they were young.

I am a parent and have 3 children. My oldest child graduated from CCHS and is in her 3rd year of college from my experience with her going there I can promise you my other 2 children will not be going there. You can't even tell the teachers from the students. You get by with pretty much everything and the way they let some of them get by with the way they dress is terrible. My son that is in college tells me I'm crazy if I send his sister there, and thats not the only child that has told me that.Thats pretty bad when you have kids telling you that I have also had other teachers tell me that. The school needs some help in finding more caring teachers and firmer rules & discipline.Don't just give them a good grade make them earn it.The child & parent will suffer in college.

I am a parent of not 1 but 2 students at CCCHS, A senior and a junior. The senior is on the football team. the junior is not interested in sports at all. The senior has a GPA of 3.55 the junior 3.95. To all the parents/students that complain about the lack of education that you receive please take a hard look at your child or self. Am I doing all I can? Yes CCCHS loves it football, just like its basketball program. Take personnel responsibility for your education. Parents if the school is over crowded for your student then pass a tax hike to build another school and higher more teachers but you won t do that, so live with your choice. I have always been able to go to a teacher or coach and been able to talk to them about my kids and education. Parents when was the last time you went? My children are getting a very good education compared to some of the other school system they have been in.

I am a mother of 2 children that are attending C.C.H.S. One child is pratically a straight A student while one child is constantly struggling, and though they come from the same seed it s obvious at school they are treated completly different. The teachers show extreme favortism to the better student, they seem to only be there for the pay check. this school lacks leadership and care.

I recently graduated from Coffee County Central High with honors, but now I'm am beginning college having to take remedial Algebra. During high school I never had a grade below an A, and that should be evidence enough to show how the school is lacking. The only teacher I had in my high school career that ever seemed to care about students was my sophmore english teacher, Ms. McCullough. All other teachers were too concerned with how the students were dressing to care what they were learning. Also, all school funding apparently goes toward football because I don't believe I ever saw any money going toward education. And funding football is just somewhat sad since the team isn't that good.

I recently transfered from Coffee County to another state I spent 3 out of my 4 years in High School. The school lacks proper funding, authority figures who care, enough teachers for the students, principals who know how to do their job, and rooom. You would think with all the cities that have children attending that school someone would realize there is not room or teachers enough to handle them. There are also very few teachers who genuinely care about their students. As people have said before the school is too worried about football to actually take a look around and see what's happening right in ront of their eyes.

I recently graduated from Coffee County High and the school isn't nearly as bad as has been described. I think the quality of education is less than that of Tullahoma. I don't believe that Coffee County has been given proper funding. I do believe more importance is placed on athletics than on education. Coffee County does have some excellent teachers, but they also lack in other areas. The school has acquired a new principal, so many changes are being made. Overall, I would say this school is average.

Im a student at CCHS and this school is horrible. I've hated everyday of high school since i started. Its way over crowded, the education is awful! Most of the class rooms don't even have doors, so while learing english you get to hear the math lesson next door. When your on top of a land fill it's not excatly the healthly place to be. The school is to worried about football and what color hair and if were skipping to care how we feel. To fix alot of this coffee county needs a new high school, more teachers, and more people who care!

I am a parent of a student at CCCHS. So far, I have not seen any one on one student help. It's almost like every child for himself. It is a shame that football is the number one priority at this school.

I am a student at CCCHS and I would like to tell you about our school. The halls are over crowded, the class size is about 27-35 students for every teacher, the sinks in the bathrooms do not work sometimes, there isn't enough time to get to each class, the cafeteria sometimes runs out of food before everyone gets to eat, the lunchroom is overcrowed and people do not have enough time to eat, classes are too far away from one another, and everything is of little importance when compared to football.
