MEMPHIS -- UTC junior Derek Rende birdied the first playoff hole to capture the 2008 Tennessee State Amateur at Ridgeway Country Club on Friday. Rende fired a final round 69 (-2) to complete 72 holes at 270 (-14).

Former Goodpasture star Joe David shot a 1-under 70 and was in third place after three rounds of the Tennessee State Amateur Championship in Memphis.
